WiFi issue
My Axim x51v will not connect to the internet unless it is docked. The battery is fully charged. When off the dock, The connection shows as excellent (full bars), I have an IP address, etc, but trying to open a webpage leads nowhere.
So what happens when it is docked? is it piggying back on my computer's internet connection?
Anybody knows where to begin?
Thanks

WiFi issue
So, I just proved to myself that when docked, the WiFi feeds comes from the USB connection. I disabled the wireless on my laptop (which is the base for the Axim) and the Axim's WiFi stopped functioning. Swithed the laptop WiFi to on and the Axim's WiFi works fine.
Does that help out?

I seem to remember reading in the manual that the Activesync connection to the laptop/PC gives internet access via the USB link, exactly as you've proved. Me, I've *never* managed to make my machine connect in *any* free hotspot. At home, wireless internet is fine. In a French hotel once I paid a ludicrous €4.50 for an hour and that worked. Everywhere else, zip.
However, now that I'm on a cooked ROM 6.1 I need to fire up the wireless (green light flashing), then Odyssey, which has all the firewall settings programmed in, and finally my web browser. It takes a bit of effort, not a simple switch-on-and-go, but it works.
And a final note. My machine used to take ages to boot until I read that the probable culprit was Odyssey. I made sure that I switched it off explicitly after every web session and sure enough normal boot times resumed.
Let us know if you have any luck with this.

WIFI connection is not that complicated, although you have to be able to set your computer to be a network access point, if you don't have a wireless router in your house to connect to. The main thing then is the encryption settings for wep access to the router. Other than that, there shouldn't be too much setup!!
Go start/settings/wlan utility turn on wifi then tap settings under the turn on turn off wifi button. this will bring you to a page where you can configure the connection settings

WiFi Issue
Well, my Axim is the only wireless device I can't get to work in the house.
I have 2 laptops, a Wii and a couple DS Lite that freely connect to my router, running in WEP 64 bits. When I get to connect with the Axim, I punch in the 10-digit network key and 2 seconds later, the network key is 13 digits long and no connection is possible even though the unit says it is connected with excellent connection.
I tried setting up my router in WPA mode, no success either. It works with no encryption, but that's not an option. Any wizard out there, please help, or confirm me it will never work.
Thanks!

Check your broadcast settings
I bet your router isn't broadcasting in B mode(which is the only mode the AX is capable of). The key jumping to 13 digits isn't what you think it is. It's just the default mask that the AX uses for a network key. The AX will connect to a G router but it won't access it. Let us know if that's it.

WiFi Issue
My router can broadcast either g, b, or b/g.
I tried b only with no more luck.
It is set up to b/g now, as my laptop now receives 54Mbps rather than 10.

try this
When you configure your security set your authentication to WPA-PSK
and your Data Encryption to TKIP. That's how mine is set up and it works fine. The AX only supports a few types of security and this is one that I know works.
Oh, and make sure your not using MAC filtering. You can use MAC filtering but with so many devices it can be easy to input the wrong MAC address on one of your devices.

WiFi Issue
All right, I will try this tomorrow.
Too much this and that tonight. The 1996 Bordeaux was awesome.
Happy new year to everyone here.
Cheers!
P.S. 1993, good year also. Montreal won the Stanley Cup and I met my wife that year.

WiFi issue
So, tried everything, nothing works.
at least, not on my own router.
I have had no problems in the past connecting to unsecured networks, but I can't get it to work on mine.
It will work when docked, but kinda useless.
Unless it is the firewall that causes the problem?
