x51v screen flicker

I got a second hand x51v described as in good condition and fully functioning after my Toshiba e750 died.

I have a couple of questions.

1) When I sync / charge the x51v with a USB lead the screen flickers occasionally.
Do Axims do this? Is this normal? It did this in WM5 as I bought it and also in WM6.1 after flashing.

2) I have some issues with backups. Before my e750 died I backed up onto the PC with WMD and onto the CF card with WM2003 backup/restore facility. I thought I was gonna be clever but not clever enough.

Now.... syncing with the x51v there is no backup / restore button on WMD.
Why? Is there a problem??

Also the x51v does not like / recognize my old e750 .dbk files. How can I get the data out of my backups onto the Axim????

As for screen flicker mine used to do that sometimes. It will help if you turn your brightness down all the way while it's plugged in. There are two settings one while on battery and one while plugged in. I find that keeping both turned down to the lowest setting keeps this from happening. It also occured while plugged into my 12volt adapter when i'm using it for GPS. As for getting your old files from your e750 your pretty much out of luck unless you can borrow someone else's and restore the data and then transfer it manually. I never had much use for the backup function anyway. I always copied the files i needed to my computer manually as a back up.

If I use the cradle to sync, I don't get any flickering, but if I sing with just a USB cable sync cord to the computer, my axim will flicker sometimes. I think it's because the computer is powering the Axim through the cord where the cradle has a separate power supply.

Without using a third party backup solution, there is really no way to apply backups over OS upgrades!
