Moving between Vista & XP

I have two laptops. One has the XP operating system, the other Vista. Outlook 2007 is installed on both machines. Currently, my Dell Axim 51v is connected to the laptop with Vista and I sync the information between the two. I would also like to sync the Axim to the laptop with XP.
At one point, I tried syncing to a computer with XP but lost all the data on the Axim that was stored on the laptop with Vista.
Can anyone give me detailed instruction or direct me to a website on how I can connect the Axim on both computers without losing any data. I want to be able to move freely between the two computers.

Looks like nobody knows the answer, and I don't think I do either, but the first thing that springs to mind is that if the two PCs are not themselves in sync (one has 10 emails, one has 5), then syncing the second one will automatically wipe the other 5, no? If both laptops have the same data, you'll lose nothing.
The next thought is that you may be able to set one laptop to be the "master" which gives data to the Axim, and the other the "slave" which receives data from the Axim. That is, if you sync the 10 emails from the master, then sync to the slave, the Axim will send the 5 extra emails to the slave.
This is guesswork - I'm hoping it will strike a spark in the group and somebody who knows what the hell they're talking about will help.

Before i abandoned my desktop PC for a laptop i was syncing between a Vista Home Premium laptop and a XP Pro desktop without any problems. If you go under Activesync on your AX and click on the MENU at the bottom right, open the OPTIONS menu. Under the OPTIONS menu you should show that you have two sources that sync with your AX. For example on mine it has only one icon that says"Windows PC" with contacts, calendar, email, task, etc, etc listed underneath. Yours should have TWO icons. one for your Vista laptop and one for your XP laptop you'll have to figure out which is which. I'm pretty sure both of mine said "Windows PC" when i was syncing with two computers. You can adjust what you want your AX to sync with each source. Hope this helps.

Everyone is headed in the right direction here. Dahawthorne's description is exactly, visually, what I think the answer is.

If the Vista laptop is your main PC, and you want the info from that PC to transfer to the AX and then sync to the XP PC, it is as simple as selecting which way you want the data to travel from the ax to the PC in activesync settings for the PC. Obviously your axim is syncing the info off of the vista PC to transfer it to the XP PC you need to set up activesync like this



Right click on the PC name in activesync and select



If you set up activesync like this on the XP PC it will leave all of the info on the axim and transfer it to the PC
