Screen replacement question

I was gave a Axim x51 with a broken digitizer. After removing the digitizer I decided to power up the unit to see if the LCD screen was good. Unit powered up ok but the screen is white, with a thin red line down the middle. My question, Is this a sign of a bigger problem, or do I need to replace the LCD also?
