The answer to your first question is "yes" - the 16GB SDHC will work, and you will be able to use the Axim as an MP3 player. I can't recommend an app, since I don't have any music on my Axim, though I have in the past. I think you should be able to use the built-in Media Player, but I'm sure people will have opinions on the best MP3-specific player - there are probably freeware apps out there.
Look at http://www.freewareppc.com/multimedia/multimedia.shtml
I don't know how you can put WMP on the front screen unless you use a third-party app - again, I'm sure one of the group will have ideas on this one.

TCPMP works very well as an MP3 player, it has hot keys to turn off the screen and other things as well, i used mine as an MP3 player for quite some time before i bought my SE W300i cell phone. I recommend the cassette adapter for use in the car if you have a cassette player. The FM tuner setup for sell on the market doesn't work all that well in my opinion. Good luck

I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but I thought the x51v didn't support SDHC?
I'd be very happy to be wrong on this one...

I was suspicious too, but I read various reports saying that it works with WM6, and I believe with the SDHC upgrade mentioned in other threads in the forum.
I have the Football WM6 A03 RTM installed on my X51V, and risked a 16GB SDHC from A-Data. It works absolutely fine, and reports the full capacity available (actually 15-point-something because of the way that manufacturers bump up their figures).

you can get a high capacity CF card that will work just fine with WM5, I had a 1 gig card with over 200 songs and that was only half the capacity of my card. Ebay is always a good place to look for that type of thing.

A 4gig SDHC didn't work for me.
I have an Axim X51, with wm5, an the 4gig sdhc would not work at all. I do however have an 8gig CF card (no name ebay about $40) and it works just fine.
I also use media player as my main mp3 player and it works okay.
cheers.

Bob,
I've seen a thread (I was sure it was here, but now I can't find it - maybe it's on a different site?) showing a WM5 SDHC upgrade which makes SDHC work with WM5. Maybe you could try that and let people know if it works for you?
Just for my own curiosity, do you not want to try the WM6 Football A03 RTM ROM? I seem to remember that Mahstah has installed it and is happy with it, as am I, and it makes a 16GB SDHC work, so you will probably find that your 4GB SDHC will spring to life. I've noticed little difference (apart from the colour scheme, green instead of blue, the inclusion of Mobile Office which I don't use much) - everything which worked on WM5 works fine, though of course you have the initial pain of re-installing all your apps. I havn't really noticed any speed increase which others have reported. You might be pleasantly surprised...
