Dead axium
Hello, I'm new here so this may have been answered, but I need help ASAP. My x51 will not charge or turn on. Do I need a new battery, and if so, will the OS still be there and revert to default settings?

Will it work while you have it in the cradle? Or with the power cord plugged in?

No, nothing. I tried w/o battery. I really need some answers here, this has all my gluten free software and lists on it. I didn't use it for a month, then nothing. Will a new battery get it up and running again. I really need help now.

FIRST:Your AX will not turn on without the battery cover on and locked.
It will work without a battery while on the power cord but only with the battery cover in place.
When you plug your AX into the power cord or cradle does the light turn orange? If not do you have access to another cradle or power cord you can try it with?

Too problematic
After fooling around with it all night, I finally got it to work in the cradle without the battery, but the battery did charge in the cradle. Worked OK while in the cradle, but it took awhile before it would respond. When I put the charged battery back in, I could not find any files. I gave up. This unit is far too problematic to keep depending on it. It's time for a Blackberry.

In my experience i urge you to reconsider. While you have had some difficulty with your AX, IMHO even the best PDA phones (HTC ATT tilt) are still not up to par with a full PDA. Even less a Blackberry. I have run my PDA for at least 3 years without a hiccup. It appears to me that your battery just ran completely out. Your AX loaded with the latest ROM is still the better option IMHO.
GOOD luck.

Hopeful
OK, I gave it another shot last night and snyc'd it with my computer. I was able to upload my files again and got my games to work. I still get the "blue screen" at first when I place it in the cradle. Don't know what that's all about but it does work with the battery in. I will keep at it. Thanks for your encouragement.

Your welcome. Trust me i'd give anything for my AX to be my cell phone, however that's just not cost effective. I've researched all of the current PDA phones and none match up to the AX's capabilities. The fastest PDA phone out there is only running at 400mhz and the screens are still phone size not PDA size. Good luck with your AX i know i'll be seriously disappointed when mine finally gives up the ghost since they are no longer in production.
