How much memory can x51v support
Okay,
So my x51v will be arriving today in the mail. I have been reading up the forums like crazy. One thing that I am not sure about anymore is:
with wm5
1. Can my x51v support 16gb sd-hc memory cards? if not is there a driver out there?
2. Can my x51v support 16GB ADATA CF-16 Speedy Compact Flash Card
Thank You all !

I've been looking at these questions myself, and I think :
- SDHC is not supported - the closest I can see is a comment saying that one person has managed to make an SDHC card work using an adaptor, but not directly in the X51V slot itself.
- After a lot of humming and hawing, and after seeing many comments on various websites, including one person offering an X51V for sale with an Adata 32GB CF, I've ordered a 32GB CF - I'll let you know when it arrives, but from what I've seen the answer is yes, a 16GB Adata CF will certainly work. And if the 32GB works, I'll probably have to think hard how to fill it, and won't even need an SD as well (famous last words...).

Theoretically you should be able to use a 32gb card, and i'm pretty sure i've seen where someone said the 32gb CF card does indeed work. But do you really need that much capacity? I have a 2gb CF and I did have a 2gb SD(it quit working and I plan to replace it) and that is probably 2 more gbs than I need. But to each his own. Keep us posted though.

Yep, you're right, my 8GB CF & 4GB SD have been ok, but I've regularly had to dump stuff from both when I have (for example) an entire series of a TV program that I want to watch on the Axim. But you know what it's like when you get the bug... I'm a propellorhead, what can I say? :-))

LOL Yeh i know exactly what you mean. I work shift work and when i work nights i try and load a movie for each night, and before i had my 2gb CF card i didn't have enough room to load 3 or 4 movies without dumping something( i previously had a 1gb SD card). But then i burnt up my SD card and i have TOMTOM navigator loaded on my CF card so i need to get another SD which i've been looking at getting a 4gb card(around $25 on ebay). Besides it's way faster to stick my SD card in the card reader on my laptop to transfer stuff to it than to sync my AX to transfer to the CF(SLOOOOOOOOOOWWWWW). Keep us posted on the larger cards though cause them things are getting cheaper every day!

There is a SDHC driver out. I only know of people using 8 gb with it but I "think" I saw some mention of 16 gb don't remember though.
Yes your 32 gb cf card will work. Theoretically cf is only limited by the card.
I read on another forum where a x51v is capable of seeing up to about 200 gb total.
Of course there is always football if you are out of warranty or don't care about warranty.

SDHC capability
If you want to use SDHC cards above 8 gig you need to flash football's WM6 ROM go to the thread below and download WM6 RTM (release to manufacturing)

There is a file system limitation with FAT 32 formatting that limits CF cards for the Axim to 136 approx Giga bytes. Not to shabby. Beyond those sizes the file system can't cope and slows incredibly. Ive got 20 Gb in my ax at the moment and I haven't even tried the SDHC card option yet, I' running the football ROM. Standard SD 4 Gb.

Does anyone have a 16GB SD running on an X51V? Like I said, I'm a propellorhead, but no point in wasting the dollars if it doesn't work. But if it does, I'll bet I can think of *some* way of filling 48GB... :-)
