Need MAC addr but don't have WLAN Util
I need to know the MAC address of an Axim X51 so I can register it for use on our restricted campus network, and understand I could get that using Dell's WLAN Utility. Dell support tells me to click SETTINGS, then CONNECTIONS and I'll see WLAN there, but I don't see it (just Beam, Bluetooh, Connections (seems to deal only with modems) and Network Cards (no MAC there that I can find).
Am I looking at the WLAN Utility without recognizing it or is the app missing from the Axim? Dell gave me a link to downloads for the X51 but nothing there looked promising.
I know that wireless is possible because it worked briefly until our new network registration software kicked me out. I've worked with Windows for decades but this Mobile 5 edition has turned me back into a real newbie. Thanks in advance for any advice or assistance.

Your looking in the right place. It should say "Dell WLAN utility".
If it's not there tap on the signal meter in the bottom right corner of your screen, and then turn on your wifi adapter. Once it is turned on you will be able to find your MAC address under the "advanced" tab. If for some reason your signal meter is not displayed in the bottom right hand corner i would suggest a hard reset to restore your AX's programs(don't forget to backup and save any info you don't want to lose). However, if you don't want to do a hard reset you can find the "WifiUtility" in the "windows" directory using file explorer. Just click on it when you find it and it should start right up, where once again just turn on your wifi and look under the advanced tab to find your MAC addy. Good luck

Thanks--still searching
I greatly appreciate this speedy and helpful reply. Unfortunately, there is no sign of "Dell WLAN Utility" or anything with "wifi" in the Windows directory, so I am left to conclude that the device may not have built-in wireless capability. Yet I was able to bring up several new sites (not cached) at one time...perhaps the iMac on my desk was doing relaying via Bluetooth, although I had certainly done nothing to set that up.
I had done a hard reset previously. There is, of course, a button for enabling wireless on the Axim, but it seems to deal only with Bluetooth. The little light at the top right blinks blue when wireless is enabled...but never green as Dell indicates it should.
Alas! I am lost in a sea of my own ignorance! But it's good to know this comunity exists and is willing to help.

Rodger,
After reviewing your post i see that i should have been a little more careful. The information i provided is for an X51V not an X51. I have the X51V and have had no experience with the X51 since i previously owned an X5. However, don't be discouraged to seek help here. There are people here that can help. The specs posted here indicate that it does indeed have built in WIFI. I suggest that you check your ROM and make certain that you are running the most current version. Dell is correct though when WIFI is enabled the light should be green. You can look under "Settings" on the "System" tab there is a "System Information" link. There it will tell you what connections are installed. It should say "wireless and bluetooth".
Good luck.

something to try...got to Settings-->Connections -->Network Cards --> double click on your wlan adapter (Most Probably "Dell Axim X50 WLAN..." If Use Server Assigned IP address the Greyed out box belo the "Use Specified IP Address should show your Hexidecimal Mac Address.
It does on my X50V anyway...hope this helps.

Goto Settings/Connections/Dell Wlan Utility
Goto the advanced tab. If the information is BLANK, tap on the MAIN tab
Tap on the ICON that says "TURN ON".
Goto Advanced tab, the fields no longer should be blank. (including MAC address)

Will the x51v replace BOTH PDA's, my FLASH
