Unhappy Anyone had problems with std SD cards?

My second 1gig Amicroe SD card in 4 months just died and i'm just wondering if anyone else has had this kind of "luck". Is it a x51v problem, or just a SD card problem in general? The latest one lets me format it in a card reader and even put things on it. Then when I insert it in the pda it comes up with the "would you like to format...?" message. If you go ahead and reformat it ,or not, it still becomes unrecognised after the next soft reset. Any ideas anyone?

Was the previous card the same brand? I hate to say it but it may just be a bad batch of cards or just that it's a lower quality card. Can you borrow a card from someone else and see if that card works? I haven't seen or heard of this problem before. Keep us posted.

Yes it was exactly the same type and brand. I'm actually trying a borrowed Sandisk 1gig card at the moment. So far so good but will let you know how things go.

I have a 4gb Transend SD card in my X51V at WM6 A03 with no issues from the start. I also have a 8gb Transend CF card in my unit. Both function fine for me.

I don't get this, I found cheap card in the gutter, in the rain, 64 Mb, I just left it in a warm place to Dry. I used it to flash ROM this week works fine. Have you contacted Amicroe about your card failures, I don't know the brand!

The guy in the store told me it was "professional " quality (whatever that means). It certainly wasn't cheap at $30 for 1 gig! No, I haven't contacted Amicroe directly, but seeing as this is the 3rd one now they'll certainly be hearing from me if it happens again. Oh, and I've learnt the absolute necessity of keeping a backup of my SD disk now....

I'm running WM5 A12, but i'm pretty sure that it was my laptop that killed it not my AX. I had bought a new high speed 2gb card for my wife's digital camera and i was going to take her old 2gb card to use with my AX. I had transfered the info from the old card to my laptop and once i got her squared away i transfered my info(which is now lost to the ether) to the old 2gb card. But my computer started acting funny during the transfer. It went from saying the transfer would take 20 more minutes to 1458 days. I should have known then it was messed up. Anyway, i hit cancel and when i took the card out of my laptop and stuck it in my AX it was DEAD. Well, guess it's back to ebay to get another one. I have found a 4gb thought on ebay for $20.00 guess that's what i'll get.
