ActiveSync Loses Partnership with WM6...

Last weekend I upgraded my X51v to WM6. Everything seems to be working well except Activesync.

At home, I attached the Axim through the USB cradle without any problem. Everything syncronized fine. On Tuesday, I set up a partnership using the USB cable to my machine at work. Again, everything worked fine.

Tuesday evening, when I tried to sync again at home, I was greeted with a message that insisted that I delete on of the partnerships before I could sync with the machine at home. Mind you, I had syncronized with that machine the previous evening. Thinking it was a glitch, I deleted the partnership at home and let it go through the whole processes again.

This morning, when I got to work and connected with the USB cable, I got a a messaged that I needed to delete a partnership again.


Has anyone else experienced problems with AS4.5 and WM6? Any solutions? Any Guesses????

No, you're not. However, it's not only WM6, and it's not only Activesync. I've had periods where it works, and then it stops, and then it works again, and now I just can't be bothered to worry any more about it. I've deleted partnerships, played with settings... waste of time. Someone commented in this forum a long time ago that Microsoft appear to have amazing difficulty in the (apparently) simple matter of making one of their own apps talk to another. Nowadays I just take regular backups to a CF and forget the annoyance and frustration of trying to sync with my PC (Vista, by the way - are you using PC Activesync or the new WM Device Centre?).

The two machines that I'm trying to sync with are my work machine running Windows 2000, Outlook 2003, and Active Sync 4.5.

My home machine is running XP, Outlook (not sure which version) and Active Sync 4.5.


Until the upgrade (??), I was able to sync my Axim with both machines without problem. I'm not sure if it is the Activesync that broke the link, or the upgrade to WM6. For some reason, I suspect AS. Unfortunately I don't have an installation file for an older version, but I'll poke around..... perhaps a downgrade to 4.0 may help.

Any links to previous ActiveSync install files???

Never mind.... I found an older verion (4.2). WM6 seems to need at least 4.5.
