to upgrade or not to upgrade?
Hello Ax people,
I am small busness owner that was looking for a way to link invoiceing in the field to my Quickbooks programs - reading and finding that the Axim X51 was a very good fit I purchased one on ebay { mistake number one} being a noob to the PDA world I ended up with a low end X51, 416MHz processor, 64 ram, 128 rom version A03 . . . . I should clearify that ebay is wonderful - I was uninformed in my purchase.... i thought i was buying a Wifi ready machine and didn't get it - then i bought a CF wireles card {not compatable} and now im waiting for an SDIO wifi card to arrive - - - - in the meantime...should i leave this machine alone or should i start upgradeing the ROM version? I am seeing alot of threads on this subject... i would like to run GPS eventually and I don't know what this new sware {solstice} is going to require . . .any help and direction would be wonderful - - thanks for the new guy............ Al

Definitely upgrade. The SDHC card won't work with your model unless a WM6 update is available for your unit (not sure on the low end X51v). Even that would require that you load an unsupported ROM. You want the functionality of the high end unit, Sell the low and buy the high.

No he's telling you to put your X51 on ebay and to find an X51V. Most all the discussion in this forum is pertaining to the X51V. Good Luck.

Snowboss get an x51v if you can for a reasonable price, , but as far as upgrading the ROM, you can, to AO12, what sort of SDIO wifi card are you getting?

Dell Update here Snowboss. As for the SDIO wifi card I couldn't tell you, some do and some don't, but from all of my reading I think you'll be OK. That's not gospel though!

Dell Axim X51v Brick
Hi
I was copying a music file from my SD-RAM to my DELL RAM, when it froze.
I tried to reset but unsuccessful.
Then I tried hard reset. I could hard reset it but it did not boot up and froze on the Blue DELL Logo.
I have checked my DELL by POWER+RECORD Button+RESET. Everything is OK.
I have tried to Flash it by POWER+WiFi+RESET via SD-RAM. I have flashed it by ROM A17, no result.
Then I tried ROM A12 to flash it. No result. Still freezing on Blue DELL Logo.
Please help me. I am really frustrated.

I assume you removed the SD card prior to doing all of the flashing. If the card is bad and your unit attempts to access it during rebooting it could give you the issue your experiencing.
