Problems with Axim x51v
I have a Dell Axim x51v. The software that came with the PDA is for XP. My OP is Vista. I was able to install the software with the help of Dell. I have Outlook 2002 installed. Now everytime I open Outlook, I get the
following alert and it keeps popping up repeatedly. "A program is trying to access e-mail addresses you have stored in Outlook. Do you want to allow this? If this is unexpected, it may be a virus and you should choose no."
Then you can check allow access and a pull down appears with 1 - 10 minutes. If you choose no, the box wll not disappear. Choosing no, I get a "Runtime
Error" message: "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the administrator's support team for more information." What the heck does that mean? You have to choose "allow
access" and then a time to temporarily get rid of the alert box. And whichever time is chosen, it will pop up repeatedly as long as Outlook is running or the Axim is in the cradle. How do I get rid of this? It's so annoying. Do I need to upgrade to a later version of Outlook?
I'm also getting this error message when Outlook is opened: "An extension failed to initialize. Can't open file: extend.dat. The file may not exist, you may not have permission to open it, or it may open in another program. Right click the folder that contains the file, and then
click properties to check your permissions for the folder."
I hate to sound ignorant, but I don't understand any of this. This is all making me crazy. I find the Axim so difficult to work. I need help with this. Thanks.
