new to here, and X51v bt problem
say hello first, i got a secondhand X51v from ebay recently.
when testing, the wifi seems ok, but the bluetooth device doesn't work very well. It is not very sensitive, every time my cell phone or laptop detects the signal from PDA, the PDA can't pick the singal very easily (have to refresh some times) from other devices. And whatever I did, the pda cannot detect and recognize my bt headset (the headset works fine with my cellphone).
Is there any solution to improve the performance of the bt device?
BTW, i planned to buy a BT gps receiver, according to the problem above, i am think which is better? the bt receiver or a CF receiver? Any comment?
Thanks.

bt stack
ok bud ............. a was just passing through and seen your post ........ not to go into to much detail from myself ............... the wm5 bt stack (bt installed on your del pda) is very limited to what it can do............... you will need to install a new bt stack ......... have a look at widcomm site / or some forums on this issue

Simeon, welcome to the site. The BT will disconnect if the axim is idle for extended periods, when using the connection for dial up networking or data transfer. You can only connect to one other device @ a time. as for headsets, not all brands of headset are compatible, as the previous post mentions. There's another BT stack available but it is an advanced procedure. Google "widdco

nice to know the 'widcomm', thanks so much.
In your post, you mentioned that 'The BT will disconnect if the axim is idle for extended periods'. May I conclude that the bt gps receiver is not the better solution, compared with the CF gps receiver?

Hi simeonyu1981-
The BT is not idle when in use. I've used TomTom w/ BT receivers for many hours at a time on long trips and it never drops out. A BT receiver is better than a CF for a variety of reasons. I do not use the Widcomm stack but hear it's good for some things like BT headsets.
The BT receiver gets a better signal because you can place it away from your field of view, up front and center of the dash or under the seat if it has a good chipset. They also have optional external antenna adapters for maximum exposure and accuracy. A BT receiver will also not make your Axim larger and be something to accidentally hit or break during use.
Just my opinion, CF receivers are not bad and I've used one myself for a period. One major suggestion: get something with the Sirf Star III chipset. Huge difference in accuracy and it gets a signal when the sky is obscured, even indoors.
