D-pad down button sluggish on X51

I do lots of readings on my X51 and uses the [down button] on the D-Pad all the time since last Nov. Now I have to push harder (compared to the other 3 directional buttons) on the down button to make the page to turn.

"Harder" push: if you tap a good button lightly, it makes a small sound and PDA senses it and take actions. On the bad button, there is no action if I tap it lightly and the small sound is heard. I have to push twice (approximate) as hard to has the PDA senses it.

I wonder if any other user had this problem. Will this leads to complete failure of that button?

For now, if possible in the software, I programed the right button to turn to the next page.

If your axim was new in November, then you should seriously consider returning it to Dell under the warranty.

It sounds as if their is a risk of serious failure. If you are lucky, a new front might sort the problem ( the buttons are part of this) but it could also be a sign that the microswitch is failing.

Try Dell first

I know this is an old post but it is the first thread that deals with my long time problem. My D pad is basically useless. I have programed other butttons to avoid the D pad. However the other buttons are also wearing out and taking more and more pressure to click them. Where do I get a new front? that seems to be the cure for me.
Any help out there! I need my Axim!

Hope this helps

I found this pictorial on how to disassemble an X50v. Maybe you have something stuck(dirt) under your D pad that is keeping it from working.
Hope this helps.
