Messaging corrupted?
A while back, SPB Diary started causing my axim to freeze up, and around the same time I started having syncing problems. It turns out I can no longer access my e-mails, something has fouled up messaging and I think this may be the cause of my syncing and freezing woes. I have since installed Pocketbreeze, which would also freeze up until I deleted the e-mail tab. Clicking the messaging icon in Programs doesn't bring anything up.
Any ideas about what I should do? I'd really rather not do a hard reset unless I absolutely have to. I don't really check e-mails on my axim anyway, the only thing I want back is the ability to sync with my laptop again (now it gives me an 8503001c error every time I try to sync, which I'm pretty sure has something to do with messaging being messed up; I get this error even though I don't have e-mail selected for syncing in Activesync).

Have you removed all the installed programs from the axim ??, You may want to try doing this one by one.
If this fails and a soft reset does not cure it, then a hard reset may be the only solution, back up before doing so. I also assume you are using ROM A12 ?

I googled the error message, and I found many references but no solutions, although the common theme seemed to be Email, especially downloading attachments to SD card, couldn't find much else, the consistant fix was hard reset.
Google 8503001c error axim

Hmm...well if I must, I must. I've never done a hard reset before. What is the fastest way to restore my axim to how it was before the hard reset? Is it basically formatting and starting from scratch?
I did move all of my e-mail attachments to the SD card, around the time when all the trouble started, so at least I can be relatively certain that I can safely reinstall all programs I installed before the hard reset.
Are there any programs I should be using to back everything up?

Have you tried Drifter's suggestion of removing the installed programs on your axim one by one and seeing if that affects the syncing error? It may Isolate where the problem is coming from.
You can use the Backup utility that is built in to WM5 to save your PIM but a full system restore at this point would probably restore the problem as well, unless you have a backup that was made before the problem started.
Remember the reset takes the axim back to the default state that it started with, so you have to go through and set up everything again. If you have not upgraded to the latest rom version it would be a good time to do it, after the hard reset, before you install any applications, as the update involves a hard reset as well.
Some preparation, make sure you have all of your apps and registration codes for them, to make the reinstall process easier, and shorter. I have even gone to the extent of listing the order in which I installed the programs on my axim so that I can replicate the process that gave me an axim that worked efficiently with no bugs. Remember also that it will take a bit of time so make sure you allow for that.
Good Luck with it
