Is the dell axim x51v screen hard glass ?

Hi everybody. Just bought my first pda dell axim x51v from ebay. I was wondering if the screen is surface is hard glass or not. I have just ordered a brando ultra clear screen protector. But upon a closer look at the screen, it consists plastic type surface and there is a resulting slight depression when the screen is tapped. Th Is this normal? I dont want to install a screen protector if there is already on fitted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Welcome zzzaf, your axim screen is made up of a couple of different components. A hard screen which lives under a soft screen [digitiser]

which is the bit you are talking about. A screen saver is something that protects the digitiser component of your screen from scratching, it is not necessary but preferred as the soft digitiser screen is damageable. What you are observing though is normal.

The digitizer is mostly plastic and soft, while the LCD is hard glass.
Digitizer=plastic
LCD=glass
digitizer is on top and can be damaged easier, so yes buy a screen protector and use it if you care.
