Exclamation Mahstah - need some help

Memory on my Dell Axim X51 is as follows:
Storage: Total 190.60 MB In use 41.05 MB Free 139.46 MB
Program: Total 49.40 MB In use 34.73 MB Free 14.67 MN (changed slighly in second message although I didn't do anything to cause change-see second message please!)

I also left a second message here as a reply to this one so please check it also..

I'm still trying to understand the above data. First of all I store most programs on SD Card so I assume that the 41.05 MB are the programs stored in my devices memory. I may be confused on that though.

Whats the difference between "Storage" and "Program" Memory?
I only have 14.83 MB free in program.
How do I locate the files or programs that are stored under "Program" as well as how do I find the files/programs under "Storage"?

I would like to increase my free MB under "Program" but I just don't know how to do so or where to look to see what I can remove or possibly relocate.

I bought Resco Explorer which gives me a little more lattitude than File Explorer. Problem is I need to know how to use it!

I hope I have explained myself ok. Trying to understand Storage Memory and Program Memory and how the programs/files get into each is very confusing to me. Hope you (and Pedah too!) can straighten me out in this area.

BTW, I left a second message re same subject as a reply to this one. I had to edit this one because the memory totals did not come out right the first time. Hopefully between this message and the second one you will see my total memory usage.
Regards, Frank

Question Memory

I hope this comes out right because it didn't in my first message.
Mahstah my memory is as follows:

Storage: Total 190.50 MB In use: 41.05 MB Free: 149.46 MB

Program: Total 49.40 MB In use: 34.76 MB Free: 14.64 MB

In summary of my first message re device memory, where do you find Programs and files that are stored in Storage and in Program. I especially would like to increase my Free Program memory but don't know how to do it.

Could you possibly straighten me out in this area? I certainly would appreciate it!

I also note that my Program memory seems to fluctuate slightly as I send this message to you. You can see the difference in program memory from my first message to this one and I haven't touched a thing. Nothing is running except ActiveSync on PDA. What is the reason for this fluctuation in program memory? Is it something to be concerned about?

Although I would prefer users posit questions to anyone on the site (there are many highly competent posters here), I am happy to answer questions for anyone.

With WM5 devices, you have similar functionality with RAM (program) and ROM (storage) to a desktop computer. Think of the ROM as your hard drive and the RAM as temporary, clears when you fully power off or soft reset. The fluctuation is normal as programs check timers or run background applications. Check your desktop task manager to see the same thing.

For more information on memory management with WM5, see here. As for your RAM usage, see Who's Using My RAM? from WM Team Blog. Having 14 MB free is more than enough for most current PPC applications, most of which carry a footprint of a couple megs or less.

I remember asking the same question, some programs ask to be installed to main mem, but most can be installed to card, Enjoy storage/program memory, I don't quite get it?
