Noob with tons of questions (software add-ons? methods? mac?)
Hello there! I'm yet another noob to the wonderful world of Axim. My last experience with a PDA was with an old Palm V back in college...which I had gotten to try to make my hectic college & work schedule...but wasn't intuitive enough to make me give up my day-planner.
I'm venturing back into the world of PDA again, and I can see that the Axim has a lot to offer, but I'm having trouble getting it work with how I work. My boyfriend gave me an Axim x51 last summer for my birthday to try and help me keep my scattered brain together (I swear I wouldn't know where my head was if it wasn't attached to me), especially since my job has given me a lot more responsibilities that I need to track, my work inbox is constantly overflowing, and I'm also back in school to get a masters. I seriously need some help with organizing myself.
Ideally, I'd like the Axim to track my two separate worlds...separately. I don't particuarly like syncing to my work outlook account and going to work and seeing all my personal contacts, appointments, notes and to do's showing up on my work desktop.
I understand that Axim can't sync emails with more than one computer, so I've decided the more important email account to track is my work, especially since pop and imap access to our email server is restricted to vpn accounts, which they don't support for anything other than PCS, Macs and blackberries.
What I'm curious about is that I noticed some programs, like FlexMail, lets me access multiple accounts, and I've set it up to access my gmail...does this access have to be via the wireless connection? Or can I have it send and receive emails in the cradle using the internet connection through my computer...or does that end up = syncing a 2nd account (which isn't allowed)?
Another question is how do I sync multiple calendars? For example, I'd like to have my work appointments and my class schedule on two separate calendars on a PC (i.e. outlook for work and gmail calendar for school). Is there a software that will show both sets of appointments on the same calendar screen, but keeps them separate so my class schedules don't wind up on my work outlook?
Same question goes for to-do lists as well....would like to keep them separate, so when someone stops at my desk (i.e. my boss), he doesn't get to read all the fun and exciting things I need to do (i.e. take cats to vet, go buy some real food, do laundry, etc.).
Another question, any recommended software for doing more complicated to do lists? I'd like to be able to see in my to do list "Go grocery shopping" and when I click on that, I see my grocery list in a checklist type format.
Finally...could you point me in a direction where I can read up on what other people have done/used to make the Axim work for them? I know that at this piont in my career, I really need one, but I don't want it to turn into a fancy expensive paperweight because it works against me more than it works with me.
Sorry for this extremely long post...and all these questions, would greatly appreciate any and all suggestions.
Oh! One last one...is Axim compatible with Macs? I think one way around my problem would be to have outlook as my program for all work things on my desktop and use another similar program(s) for all things personal/school (i.e. iCal synced to my google...)

This is the setup I am currently using, I have my work email setup as one account and then I have flexmail polling two other accounts at the same time whether in the cradle or not it does not make a difference. I think the catch here is that only one of the accounts can be an Outlook account but you can poll/pop as many others as you like.

This is a guess on this one, but rather than running two calendars can you not setup view filters so that on your desktop appointments, tasks etc that are in the business categorizes are shown while personal are not?

Try and do some searches on this question within the forum, I know I have read a few posts about what to do with it once you get it.
Good luck and enjoy.........................
