Why is X51V so slow after turning on?
My new X51V (with German A04 ROM; latest revision in Germany; with enough free memory) has the following problem:
After I turn it on it takes approx 15...20sec before I can enter anything. I have to wait (the waiting sign is on the screen). After the time is over, the X51V work without any problem. Reset button doesn't help.
Thanks for any ideas what to do, how to check, ....
(Wlan is switched off. May be the device is looking for snychronisation? Or for a network access? Or....?)

Hi Bike, what programs do you have installed that are startup, anything that has to start is going to take up RAM, and slow ax down a bit. Also if your memory settings are at auto [which is about power saving] is trying to reduce the use of your CPU which can also slow things down. You can change your CPU settings, start/settings/system/power/processor. Now auto setting is supposed to vary processor speed to meet demand but I couldn't tell you how quickly it responds. HTH.

Hi, changing the processor from Auto to max speed doesn't help. In the windows autostart-directory are the following files:
BTTray
poutlook
SplashV
WirelessIcon
There was also the file
odClientCeAutoLaunchSmart
which I have moved out (without any change). Do you know for what this file is used?

That's the Odyssey client, you didn't need it if you didn't use it. However, I doubt that it was the cause of your slowdown problem.
The Axim should wake and be usable within 2 seconds. It's possible that a third party today screen item is malfunctioning or that your Axim needs that next German ROM update. Have you tried hard resetting to cure the slowdown? If it doesn't work, wait for the update. If it still doesn't work after a ROM update, it is a hardware issue.

Just saw this and realised that in your other posts about wlan that you need Oddessey client for your wireless so you'll have to start it manually every time you want to connect wirelessly. Also I found something at http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=148606 that might help.
and there is an update at dell for Odessy to help with slow startup problems

this is the exact problem i had with mine. I returned it, ordered the american version and now it starts up almost imediatly!!
I think it has something to do with the ROM version being so old...

Thanx spinnz, I have been searching this one big time and have found multiple fixes but to confirm a rom version problem would be great.

Hi, before you ditch your DE version, try a program like SKTools (11.00 USD) to get rid of duplicate notifications. They caused my US AO12 take 1 minute to wake up.

That's a good find, but when do you have to delete duplicates to make it most effective and if ax is not full power off I have read somewhere else that OC just keeps loading up the notifications?
see earlier link, I saw you there.
