x51 520mHz Wireless Problems
I have an Axim x51 520mHz that has 802.11b internal wireless.
At my house I have a Linksys 802.11g wireless router with SpeedBooster, but my Axim just won't connect to my network. It recognizes that the network exists, but when I try to connect, the status bar on the WLAN tool just switches back and forth from "Scanning Network" to "Connecting to Network" but never makes a connection and never shows it has a signal.
I've also tried connecting at a Wireless College Campus, Starbucks, Best Buy, and Airport, where it recognizes that there are networks available to connect to, but no prevail on any connections.
I downloaded Hitchiker, but also to no prevail.
I've tried removing the WEP encryption, connecting to the unsecured Linksys network (my home network has a network key and WEP), and putting the PDA right next to the router, but nothing seems to work.
I am fine with getting one of the Socket P300 802.11b/g cards if necessary, but I'm not even sure if that will work, since there is already an integrated wireless card in the PDA, and that also doesn't seem right since the Axim was supposed to have built in wireless.
Any ideas?

Hello bencarr-
First, make sure your router is broadcasting in 802.11b or mixed b/g mode, and not g only.
If that doesn't work, I have two suggestions for you that should. First, make sure you're running the latest ROM version for your X51. Second, make sure you're using the latest ROM version for your router.

Edit: Didn't mean to repeat you blue jeep, bencarr posted twice and we answered on the two different threads. I moved my answer here and deleted the dupe but we both suggested the same thing...

No problem, but
yeh the ROM issue seems to be the place to start, I would think, since he has the same problem wherever he is.

First, sorry about the double post- the first time I hit post, it just went to a white screen, so I thought it didn't post.
Second, thanks for the quick reply, I really appreciate it.
I re-set up my wireless router to make sure it was on Mixed output (since I couldn't remember how I set it up the first time). The router is on mixed output and the ROM version I am running i A12 (06200600) 128MB. Still nothing from the Axim. Any other ideas?

Did you check your router's ROM version? Many wifi issues have been solved by updating routers' ROMs.

hitchiker also requires a download of .net CF2 to work, otherwise I have found that the best way to setup wifi is to start with a clean machine. seriously though it should connect, it may be unobvious, you may not have access to anything on pc and be connected I've had that problem. I will say one thing third party software

I am having the same problems. The rom version is A12 and the router is mixed. I just got this last week and thinking about sending it back!
