Axim x51V with Skype (wifi)

I have an Axim x51V (wifi 802.11b integrated) and I'm having sound problems with Skype. I use the Skype Beta 2.2 for the Axim. I've tried the low cpu version of Skype (Axim x30) but same problem.
When I call someone (ex: echo123) the audio I'm receiving is really bad. It breaks and I can hear clicks and pops. Then suddenly the audio stops and I have to disconnect. I though it was a CPU problem but when I tried Skype when the Axim was in its craddle then sound was good. I know Skype was then using the LAN access of my desktop so it really seems like a wifi speed problem.
On the desktop I monitored the network traffic going on the craddle LAN access and it was using like 0.7% of a 10Mbs connection !?!

I'm using a D-Link DI-524 as a wifi router (home and at work too). Same problem with router at work. My boss has a HP PocketPC (WM5) and his Skype audio is better with the same router ! As anyone got the same issue ? Should I buy a 802.11g CF card and will it work with the x51V ? Can it be that my Axim is in trouble (hardware) or should I use another router (like Linksys) ? Some many questions. Hope to get some anwsers !

Hello Ben, and welcome to AximUsers.

What ROM version are you using? Have you installed the driver rollup package? It included a microphone recording issue. You could also try using a headset instead of the built-in mic and speaker. Hope one of these suggestions helps...

I love skype on my axim x51. I had the same problem but after turning down the volume on the unit, no more problem. It even has better response time and less troublesome sounds than my pc with headset. Make sure your unit is upside down (of course)

I'm using french A04 ROM (as per DELL no way to put a A12 english ROM !) and I have installed the driver rollup. When I use the Cnet bandwith meter I get these speeds :

Lan via craddle : 1360 kbps
WiFi : 313.8 kbps !

So it's seems like the Wifi connection is not very fast. I was testing very near the router !

I'm using Skype for my Dell Axim x51 (ROM A12), it connected well with wifi, but when I connect the PPC with my PC through sync cable I can not sign in Skype although I can access to internet. I'm using the right Skype version for Dell Axim that downloaded from Skype webpage.

I tried with Skype 2.2 Beta for Window mobile (Axim x51/x51v) but still the same problem.

Skype will complain about no wifi connection but I click ok on the warning and it connects ! Using Skype 2.2 Beta
I'm using advanced LAN (check box) in USB settings (sorry I use french Axim!)
If this check box is activted, you'll see a network icon (for a few seconds) in the taskbar when you put the Axim in the USB craddle.
