Problem Accessing the Internet on the X51v whilst docked.

Hi,

I can access the internet on my X51v via a wireless connection but I'm unable to access the internet whilst the X51v is docked - I'm not still trying to access the internet wirelessly but instead using the network card on the PC the X51v is connected to...

I've been through settings and connections and network cards on the X51v and selected the ethernet driver of the PC abd in connections selected the My Work Network which uses the ethernet driver on the PC - also I have tried the My ISP...

If anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated...

Hi pmaths-

What version of ActiveSync are you using? If you're at 4.2, try 4.5 beta and if you're at 4.5 beta try 4.2. When I used 4.5 beta I couldn't browse the net while cradled, so I downgraded back to 4.2 and all is well. You shouldn't change any settings on the Axim to get it to connect while cradled, it's likely that you'll make it more difficult.

Hi - yes I'm running 4.5beta of active sync - I will revert back to 4.2 as come to think of it, yes I could browse whilst running 4.2 a few days back...

Just another quick question - I also get problem running active sync with my firewall running - I've tried Zone alarm and comodo and I find I have to disable both to get active sybc to run...

I've tried the recommended fix for Zone alarm but this made no difference - I've also added all of the active sync components to the allowed program list in the firewall but again no joy.

I'm running the free version of comodo at the moment and have also ran the free version of zone alarm...

If anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated.

My suggestion is to remove one or both 3rd party firewalls. You don't need two firewalls, it's an invitation to trouble with programs that access the net. Go with either a single third party firewall or just use the built-in XP firewall. The only thing the XP firewall lacks is control over outgoing connections, it protects against incoming as well as any.
