X51V & GPS i-Geo Pro/Polstar PBT-648 Bluetooth
People,
I know that this Bluetooth problem has had a lot of coverage, but I can't see any actual firm resolution for it.
My new GPS is recognised, sort of, by the Axim - it finds the Polstar, accepts the default '0000' code, and ends up with the yellow question mark.
I've followed all the advice I can find - com port 7, incoming, outgoing, with serial ticked, without serial ticked, with GPS management enabled, with GPS management disabled... Maybe there's a combination I haven't tried, but I can't think of one.
The blue lights on GPS & Axim flash, but the 1-per-second on the Polstar shows that it's not really connected (it's 1 every 2 seconds for a proper connection).
Any advice? Surely after all these years it should be simpler than this...?
Thanks,
David.

Hello dahawthorne-
The X51v can be easily configured to use BT GPS units. I've used the X51v for GlobalSAT and Seidio BT GPS units with little configuration.
Did you make sure the BT port used in the GPS software matches the port number configured in the BT settings for the GPS? I always set my hardware port and program port to none, and deselect the automatic BT settings option in Start-->Settings-->System-->GPS.

Hello again, Mahstah. I really appreciate your advice.
No go. I've completely initialised the Axim back to factory settings and tried your settings.
At the moment I have :
Bluetooth -
- Mode - Turn on Bluetooth, make this device discoverable...
- Devices - Polstar with "?" in a yellow circle
- COM Ports - none set
GPS -
- Program none, Hardware none, Baud 4800.
- Access - Manage GPS off.
And the Polstar is still blinking at 1 per second, only half-connected...
AAAHHH!!!

did you resolve this - i have a GTK GB500 GPS device. When I discover it then it gets found, the passkey isacccepted - but the GPS device never fully connects (ie blue light stays firmly on and doesn't flash like it should.)
The same device works fine from a QTEK PDA - but can't get it going from the X51V
any ideas anyone ?

and another addendum - upgraded from A08 to A12 ROM with no difference - the blue light on the GPS device refuses to flash (apart from when the initial pairing happens) showing no connection :-(

No, not resolved, though I didn't have the enthusiasm to beat my head against the wall today. I tried the Bluetooth stack and had high hopes, but that was no go too...
Maybe I'll just return it. I can't see how it's compatible with the X51V if it's this much trouble...

Glad to hear ozace got it working. DH, perhaps returning the Polstar unit and getting one that's been tested would be the best course of action. GlobalSAT has had rave reviews (I've used the BT-308 and others here use the BT-338 with the X51v) and I currently use a Seidio RBT-2010 without issue.

So what maps are you being used in combination with x51v and the GlobalSAT? I have heard good things about GlobalSAT receivers on several occasions. I'm trying to figure out and buy a combination that works with my Axim x51v, a SiRF Star III receiver such as GlobalSAT BT-359W, good maps and my D820 laptop. Any advice?
