Axim x51 Bluetake/bluesoleil Bluetooth blues
I m trying to hook up a axim x51 to my laptop which has a bluetake usb dongle and using the bundled softare provided with the dongle ...ie bluesoleil.
I was expecting a cake walk with bluetooth and was thinking may be i can right away use the services but i m out of luck.
The bluesoleil can detect my axim and i try to pair it and it seems to pair well but when i go to my axim n try to add a new connection ( connections tab) or use connect with bluettoth in the Activesyn on axim, neither work.
Moreover i have tried to create a bluettoth partnership and it recognizes my laptop but i can see only serial port service availble while on bluesoleil i can see more than serial port started...
I havent been able to syn with laptop since i got my bluetooth device...I m not sure if its the problem with the bluetake dongle/bluesoleil, axim x51 or Me...
My x51 has windows mobile 5 running and laptop has xp sp1. also tried with laptop with xp sp2...but in vain....
I have tried enough to dig through the internet to find some relevant info but in vain...any help will be greatly apprecaited....
thanks
PS when i pair with the laptop i cna see "axim connected at serial port com 7" for around 2 secs and then it displays."axim has disconnected" I dont understand whats going on...

I have successfully paired my X51v with two different BT USB dongles using BlueSoleil software on two separate computers.
One thing I'd suggest for you is to make sure ActiveSync both on the host computer and on the Axim is set to use Bluetooth in the options. The option must be set on both sides in ActiveSync.
It takes a little back-and-forth toying with BT settings on each side but it will work with your configuration.
See this thread for some more pointers...

i could finally connect but...
i could finall connect after some hgeadbreaking..using activesync....actually i need to use the same port number on the active sync too to connect .....on axim it was using com 7 so i had to use 7 on the activesync too..then it instantly connected
Once its connected i can still use activesync to move files to nad fro but i was wondering if i can do it something like just send a file randomly from the axim to pc or rfrom pc to axim rather than putting the file in the shared folder and then tell it to sync...thats kinda counter intuitive
Also i tried to brownse internet while the activesyn is connected but that thing is so damn slow that nothing opens..not even a sinlge page opens..not sure of its becos of the firewall etc on my work pc or not but it just doesnt open even a single page....
and what about other services? how can i use services such as obj push, pan,hid etc...they arent visible on the services available menuy...either serial port or actvesync shows up thats all...not morethan that? ...any solution or tweak i need to make?

I also had problems with this. I found that the BlueSoleil software had a default setting of COM8. Once I switched my ActiveSync settings to COM8 it connected no problems.

1. Pull up your BlueSoleil software. Then click My Bluetooth>Security...
2. On the General tab, check the checkbox labeled "Set Default passkey".
3. In the text box below the check box type in your default pass key.

You forgot to say whether you wanted to change the passkey on the Axim or in BlueSoleil.
You can set up a passkey on the Axim when you add a new device from the BT configuration screen. The first time you add the device, enter a passkey at the prompt. You will then have to enter one on the paired device to connect.

Ohhhhhhhh so its not a 'Universal' passkey... I see. Is that passkey specific for that device only then?

Yes, many devices come with hard coded passkeys that cannot be changed and are specific to those devices. There are many common ones hard coded on different devices such as 0000 or 1234.
