Connecting problems

I have had a X51v for seveal month - a week ago my work computer would not connect with it and now it won't connect at home. I have ActiveSync 4.2 installed (and had for quite a while). I have done all the actions described in the microsoft website (firewall stuff, etc.) but nothing works. It tries to connect but just stall out. I even re-installed Active Sync and the partnership wizard doesn't come up. Any ideas - I really miss being able to use it.

If the partnership wizard doesn't come up when you cradle it sounds like a hardware connection issue. Make sure the USB cable is plugged in tightly and check the pin connections on the Axim sync connector and the cradle for possible damage. What ROM version are you at? Do you have anything bad in your ActiveSync logs?

I checked the connections - they seem to okay because ActiveSync comes and tries to connect - so it thinks something is there. My ROM version is A06(12190500). I couldn't find the active sync log.

I would upgrade to ROM A12 and reinstall ActiveSync 4.2. The version you're using might still be from the beta, Microsoft officially released 4.2 now.

Edit: You can determine if you have the latest ActiveSync in the Help-->About. If it says BETA after the version number you should update. The latest build is 4.2.0 4876.

Hi,

I'm having the same problems when trying to connect my Axim to my PC.
I thought about upgrading the rom version.
But how do I do that when I can't get a solid connection to the PC.

So any other suggestions?

Is there a program that really really deletes all of active sync?
Somehow it must be possible, but by now I've made so many attempts to re-install that I want to get rid of all the rubbish for sure.

After 90 minutes on the phone with a Dell tech (deleted and reinstalled active sync and my firewall and virus software and an number of other interesting experiments) we did a hard re-set and I am back in business. I can now synchronize again with both my home computer and my work laptop. The tech could not tell me why that worked or what not to do again.
Thanks though for the help. I am going to go ahead and upgrade my ROM.
