Slow wireless - help!

My x51v is new. I have wireless at home (b not g) which work fine and fast with my laptop and a D-Link DCF 660W card in my old pda. Although the Axim does connect to the wireless with an OK signal, the internet is so slow in finding and downloading pages. Any ideas? Would using a different browser (eg Opera) make any difference.

Opera is known to have speed advantages over IE on the desktop. I tried it on the X51v and it worked very well but I didn't want to buy it.

One important thing is to check your ROM version, A12 has been noted as faster on the network and overall. See this thread for details.

Thanks. My ROM is A12. Internet Explorer connects via wireless but is hopelessly slow - maybe 1-2 minutes for a page to load. I've now downloaded trial versions of Opera and Netfront and am amazed at the difference. No settings changed but web pages are now downloading pretty much as fast as my laptop - so much better than using the preinstalled Explorer. Yes I will have to pay for these but frankly, for anyone who is suffering from apparently slow connectivity, give both a try. Now it's a matter of working out which is best! (Incidentally, my email is also hopelessly slow, so I'm now going to try a third party mailer and see what happens. Strange, but there you are.
