HELP: My X51 is as slow as a turtle in a coma

My Axim X51 is very, very slow. It takes almost 20-30 seconds to start up....after that it takes a good 15-20 seconds to start any program...or to go to contacts or the calendar...
I'm really frustrated and almost tossed the damned thing out of the window...

any help or suggestions will be much appreciated...

Wait!

Dont toss it yet! I had the same problem several times what you have to do is a hard reset (yup thats right you'll have to reload some programs). Most programs you can reload from the desktop activesync. However you might as well install A12 rom update. this is the key though do you have extra background themes or some other 3rd party application that you recently loaded. Load them last, one at a time or not at all. that seemed to be my problem.

I had great luck with the ROM A12 update speeds things up also go to settings, system, memory, running programs, then stop all.
Also from time to time do a soft reset.
