Files on SD card must be reloaded after turning off
Something very annoying about my 51v is that everytime I turn it off, if I have been accessing something on my SD card, I must reload it. WMP is a prime example, along with a program called eDictionary reader, and some other programs. Is there a fix for this? I didn't have this problem with my iPaq.
Thanks,
Andrew

Do you mean that the applications are getting deleted or corrupted when you power off the unit and an SD based application is running? This should never happen. If what you're saying is the case I would try out a different SD card as the card itself may have become corrupted.

No. For example, if I'm listening to music in WMP and turn it off, then I must reopen the playlist as it is no longer loaded. Same thing with other programs. If I'm reading something that is stored on the SD card and close the program or turn off the Axim, when I reload it or turn it back on I also have to reload the file from the SD card. It's like it doesn't save my place. The files aren't corrupted. If the files I'm using are stored in RAM though, I can turn it off or close the program and they'll still be loaded when I turn it back on.

Use the core player its free and you dont loose your place. I listen to books while I work and finding where you were at is a real bitch.

I have experienced this same problem. the solution is fairly simple. don't turn off you Axim manually...let it power off on its own. the now playing and playlists from your sd card are temporarily stored in the RAM when the axim is on. by pushing the power button it cuts the power to the RAM and that info is lost, so when you turn it back on it's no longer there. if you let it power off on its own it enters "suspend mode" and retains the info, such as your playlist, stored temporarily on the RAM. Under settings/power/advanced you can designate how long before your axim goes into suspend mode. also under the "power on" tab if the "if a program button is pressed" box is checked your axim will power back up if any of the program buttons are pressed. I just changed one of the program buttons to run WMP for easy access. if your concerned about battery life during the time designated before your axim goes into suspend mode, you can always dim the backlight by pressing and holding the power button until the backlight goes out to conserve battery. Hope this helps, it's worked for me and saved alot of headaches.

Are you talking about your X3 clubromney? What you say is not true on the X51v because of the RAM/ROM functionality under Windows Mobile 5.0. All data is retained when the power button is pressed and RAM stays powered. Only if the "full power off" setting is enabled for holding down the power button for 2s will the X51 lose data in RAM.

No its my X51v...that is how i had it explained to me but i went back and did some reading on my own and you're correct about the ROM/RAM functionality. I've only had my X51v for about a month now and around the same time i started letting it power off i also went through the activesync fix with the fake server. i am beginning to think that the disappearing playlists may have been due to the "wandering sd card" before i ran the fix because i just turned my axim on and off several times and my now playing list is still there. so maybe its the activesync problem and he just needs to run that fix.

What is the fix? I'm using AS 4.2 beta. It seems all the other issues with the SD card have resolved themselves since I posted this message, go figure, but I still have to reload my playlists in WMP.
Thanks,
Andrew

Go with another music player. There are tons of free ones out there that have more functionality and should save your playlist.
PocketMVP, Pocket Music, and Pocket Player (trial) all come to mind.
