Slow response - is it just me?

I'm just curious - my x51v seems "slow" sometimes. By slow, I mean that I click on Start | Programs, and then I have to wait while the icons load. This can take anywhere from 5-15 seconds sometimes. Usually I see about 5-6 icons right away, but then it just "hangs" and won't respond until all the icons are loaded. The only programs on there right now are the free ones that came with the Dell CD.

I guess I was thinking that response times would be pretty fast, considering we are dealing with chip memory as opposed to a hard drive that has to spin up and locate the info. But it can be a real drag. Using file explorer can give me the same problem.

Is there something wrong with my unit, or is this typical for a Pocket PC?

Try to free up memory another words close programs that your not using that are hanging in memory it helps also you can do a soft reset and you will notice it will speed up.

Have you looked to see what programs are loaded in memory? Just because they are not active on your screen does not meen they are not occupying precious memory.

START > SETTINGS > SYSTEM > MEMORY > RUNNING PROGRAMS

Stop whatever you are not currently using and see if this doesn;t speed things up. It doesn't hurt to do a soft reset from time to time, either.

Noticed same thing with mine.

I use the Normal CPU speed which I think makes a difference.
