Need ROM English for Axim X51v

My own Axim X51v system is in French language (Rom version: A00 (09150500).
I really want to change it to english.

Could you please guide me how to change language for Axim x51v to English or
give me an English ROM version to up to?

Hello all,

Today i try to do like that, but i doesn't work.

- I downloaded two version: eng A06 and fr A01.

- I use Hex Workshop.

After that i did like this:
1. Open ROM version FR A01 with Hex Workshop
2. Copy the first 32 blocs from right window [.Rp&....d ------> FAH>......]
3. Open ROM version EN A06 with Hex workshop
4. Paste the 32 blocs copied into the first 32 blocs of ROM version EN A06. Then save ROM version EN A06.
5. Hex workshop will demande to make a .bak file, accept it.
6. Go into folder of ROM En A06 C:\dell\R114959, rename the folder from English to French
7. Goto Folder "French", rename AximX51v_WM5_A06EN.IMG to AximX51v_WM5_A01FR.IMG
8. Finally, run AximUpdate.exe to update ROM.

But it didn't work.
Do you have any nice idea?

Why don't you just sell it at ebay and buy an english axim? That's save you whole lot of trouble.

Check this site.

Follow the instructions in the 3rd post.

The 5th post confirm that the instructions work.

On the desktop, stop all applications to avoid reboot. Make sure your Axim's cradle is powered up (with AC adapter).

I try to update my ROM (English A06) with the late spanish ROM (A01) with the method of the otrer post (link by IOI to other discussion) but didnt work.
Can someone help me?

PS: When by security measures I restored my ROM to english A06, I noticed the pocess to write the files to the Axim took a long time (several minutes) instead the very short (nearly instantaneous) time took with the spanish ROM.

Hi all,

Thank you for all of you.
Today i am very happy cos i have axim X51v full english ROM.
Allow me to make a resume for to do this:

- First download the latest ROm updates in both languages (in my case Eng and Ger, in you case Fre and Eng). You can get it from the dell webstie (for english ROM is R114959, and french ROM is R116371).

- rename the target language ROM file (Eng) with the name of the original one (Fre). It means that you have to rename french ROM to become:
AximX51v_WM5_A01FR.IMG)

- Then start the update which the same lang. as the axim (Fre).
It means that you have to run AximUpdate.exe from R116371 folder.

- when the screen that shows you the version of the installed ROM and the update appears, exchange the ROM-file with the renamed one.
It means that only when you see the screen that shows you the version of the installed ROM and the info of ROM to update appears. You go to R116371 and delete the frenche ROM. Then copy the renamed ROM to here.

- click Next, wait for about 15 minutes, hardreset, wait. -> everything should be fine.

I am sure that it runs smoothly in my axim X51v. Show i am happy to share with all of you. If you need any help, free feel to contact to me.
