Question CF II Vs. Micro Drive

Are these the same thing??? If not what are the differences. I keep searching the net for CFII but only find Micro Drive cards.

Any recommendations???

Ok...There is a difference between Micro Drives and a standard CF II card. I would like to buy a standard CF II card. Where in the world do you find them. There has to be someone using them right??? Or is everyone simply taping over or filling in the gap left on the top of the Axim left by a CF type I card???

Please any advice or links to somewhere to purchase an ACTUAL CFII card would be great.

Thanks,

CF type II is a microdrive. Your CF slot can use either the type II or regular CF card. The regular CF card is not as thick as Thick as the microdrive and you will have a gap in the CF opening. You can use some tape if you like to keep out dirt etc.

Actually,

There are CFII cards that are not micro drives. They cost a bundle of cash but the two items are different.

Thumbs up

A CF Type II microdrive is a hard disk, while a CF Type II Flash Memory isn't. There are designed for different application needs.

You can find the explaination here.

It's in Post #5.

A microdrive is a miniature hard disk. A flash memory is not.

You can try http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microdrive or Google with "microdrive".

Ok..What Does Everyone Use Then???

I'd like to get some feedback from all of you on what type of card you use. If CF I are you worried about dust and debris??? After closer examination...there is another area for dust to get in anyway...the head phone jack.

If you use a non-micro drive CFII card...what size and where did you get it???

And finally if a micro drive...does it work well??? Drain battery quicker that you have noticed??? Does it seem slow in storing and retrieving data???

Overall what is everyone's opinion on this subject....I would like to get as many responses as possible as there are probably MANY people wondering the same thing....even if it's just you've looked into it and....lol

Thanks,

CF vs. Microdrive

Have any luck finding a CF II drive that isn't a microdrive? I hate the thought of having to rig up something to keep debris out of the CF slot if I use a CF type I card...

Thumbs up Seagate 4GB microdrive

I've had my seagate microdrive now for over 6 months.
Works great, had no noticeable issues for power drain. Data Transfer rates are quite acceptable. I keep several reference books on it.
