x51v how do i get an internet connection?
I am going to be buying a x51v and was wondering if there was any way to connect through a service like tmobile? I do not have a phone from them, but they have a data plan that i would get if i can get my pda to connect to the internet with it. I know i can connect when im at home and stuff like that cause i have a wireless router and all that. But im talking about the places where there isnt a wireless acess.
i know tmobile has wireless internet cards for laptops, so im wondering if there is the same sort of thing available for a pda.

What you need is called a GPRS card (not to be confused with GPS).
Recently a member here, blznweels, posted a guide on using one with T-Mobile and the X51v.

The only thing with that is i dont have a tmobile phone, and would rather not have to have a 2nd phone (i currently use metro pcs with unlimited everything, but they have no internet service yet).
My idea was to use their data package somehow without having to get a phone and pair it with bluetooth.

It seems your option depends very much on your existing phone unless you change your cell phone or plan. What phone do you have?

ok, at the moment i have no data provider. I was thinking of going with TMobile. They have 2 diffrent options from what i can tell.
I can get a phone from them and use the SIM card inside a Enfora GSM/GPRS Compact Flash Card i think. That would be the 1st option, very expensive, and a slow connection. Let me know if that is correct please. I would put the SIM in the CF Card, and the CF card in my Axim x51v.
What i would prefer to do, but dont know how to go about doing it, is use the Sony Ericsson GC89 PC Card. But i do not know if there is an adapter for a PC Card. I couldn't find one. With the PC Card i could get a much faster connection. At least i think i should.
Those are the 2 options i think i have, but im not even sure the 2nd option is possible. Is there a way to program the built in WIFI to connect to the TMobile network assuming i was a paying customer? If not, can someone please let me know my options. Useing bluetooth is NOT an option, i dont want to carry 2 phones, and a PDA. I will not use T-Mobile for my calling plan because i have Metro PCS for that. (Unlimited local, long distance, and text for $49.00/mo). Thanks in advance, and i hope i answered the questions you had asked me.

I think the first option is your only option. There might be other CF solutions than the Enfora, but there aren't any PCMCIA cards you can use with the Axim and no adapters that adapt the right way (that I can find either).

ok, i just got off the phone with both T-Mobile, and Sony Ericson. I need to find an adapter that goes from CF or SD to PC Card. It has to support a 32 Bit Card Bus, and pass 3.3v I then, have to find 3rd party drivers for Mobile 5.0 If i can find all that, they said it will work. In fact the guy i talked to at the local office wants me to call him if i find out so he can tell customers in the future. So, it looks like i can go with the way that should give me a better connection speed. The guy at T-Mobile said i can expect a 150k connection in my area, as they recently upgraded their hardware for the internet connections where i live. So thats pretty awsome.
Can anyone help me out from this point? I have to use the Sony Ericson GC89 in order to connect with T-Mobile, so finding those drivers is going to be the hard part i think. =( Wish i knew how to build a driver.

The problem is that the internet is inundated with PC cards that you can plug your CF card into, so even if there is an adapter that lets you plug a PC card into a CF card it would be a needle in a haystack.
It would be a very awkward and fragile adapter, almost as big as the Axim with a fat PCMCIA card wobbling off the top and plugged into the little CF slot. Even if one does exist no PCMCIA GPRS card manufacturer would make drivers for PPC because they wouldn't expect the card to ever end up in a PDA.

So your suggesting that i just go with the SIM based solution? use the CF slot with the GSRP SIM in it? I can do that i guess, i was just hoping for a faster connection. The gsrp adapter doesnt support EDGE, so its not gonna be as fast as they can make it.
Is it hard to build custom drivers? They have driver support for 98/xp/2k/linux and apple.

I use a GSM/GPRS CompactFlash Card model AudioVox RTMD-8000D, it works pretty well on WM 2003 SE, but i have a problem I use Running Voice GSM 3.0.5, it is a tool for GSM/GPRS connectivity for Pocket PC, but this app doesn't run in WM 5.0,
do you know about a version that support WM 5.0 or a similar apps?
Thank's a lot for your answers, I will be really appreciated
