Installing TomTom 5.21 via SD card

One or two people have been reporting an inability to install TomTom 5 on their X51/X51V from the supplied SD card.

TomTom report that 5.21 is compatible with WM5 devices such as the x51/X51v. However, when the SD card is inserted into an X51/X51v for the first time, the automatic load program does not always operate. It is possible that this is caused by slightly older versions of .CAB files.

If you are faced with this problem, download the update 5.2XX file from TomTom.com and run this.

The file supplied is actuallly a fully running copy of the TomTom program which will install on to the x51 without problems and , providing you have the supplied SD card with map(s) installed in your PDA, will take you to the registration screen as normal. Once registered TomTom 5.21 will work normally on your X51/X51v.

I have tested this install method myself on a new x51v and also have advised others. I would also advise removing any part installed copies either via deletion or hard reset

PLEASE NOTE. This route still requires that you register your version to get it to operate, and does not allow cracked or "keygen" program operation.

It is registered, and it is on my pda and I can use it to find places and calculate routes and things which is amazing considering a matter of a week ago |I was ready to throw it away, so thanks to everyone on this site!! But still no joy with it actually recognising my gps, which is also tomtom that I bought at the same time as the software. I did recently do a journey with it in my car reading the route as I moved it along with my finger and followed the map, but I feel this has some safety issues whilst driving and is obviously still not working.
Just wish it would recognise my reciever feel so close yet so far when sat in car with tomtom screen gps reciever flashing all connected and tomtom just saying no device! Thanks again for all your help though. Glad I'm not alone in this problem
