Donkey Kidd...
I got the same damn notification on the GPS....yeah WHAT'S UP WITH THAT??? From another post I read, and I just posted a new thread, it seem our version is NOT out of date. I plan to call Navteq myself and see what's up. I'll let you know what I find out. I was working with Dell CS for two hours and never got the offer of a $99.00 refund.
I'll keep you posted.

Donkey,
Well I'll post this here as well....But your GPS software is fine. The notice was set up in the software to prompt you because this is when the update for the new release A02 was SUPPOSED to come out from Navteq. It has not yet been released and will be available by July. So DO NOT buy it and get a refund as you will have the SAME thing you have now. Truthfully I may not even buy the next release as there is some new construction by my house and I doubt that road will be on the A02 so I'll probably wait for A03 I have no problems with the GPS now soooo why spend the extra $$$ now.

I am a Dell Axim newbie so be gentle. I have an X30, 312Mhz version, and I have just bought a 512MB SD card. Last week I copied a copied a five 5MB, MP3 files to my built-in storage inadvertently. Of course my processor is very slow right now as a result. I want to move these files to the SD card. Can someone help me? The help section of the device does not give clear instructions on how to accomplish this. It gives general directions on how to free memory. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Transfer Files
Rashoman,
The way I do it...not sure it's the only way....
I sync the Axim to my PC...Open My Documents, Click on Folders Tab...All folders appear on the left.
Then I scroll down to My Computer click on the + sign. You should see Mobile Device. I click on that then hit the + sign.
From there you will get all the File Folders on your Axim.
Click on Music on the device and the files should appear on the screen to the left. Click one. Edit Select all. Then drag and drop them to the SD or CF file you want them in.
That should do it....
Good Luck

Thanks for the File Transfer tip
Ryeha's Assassin, thanks for the tip. Later last night I realized there were two issues affecting the processing speed of my X30. One of course, is limited memory due to storing 5MB files, four actually on in built-in storage. I have learned that lesson well. It won't happen again. Second, I realized that I had my processor on powersave mode. In that mode it only operates at around 208 Mhz. The maximum processing speed of the device is 312Mhz. After I ramped up the processor speed to the max setting and deleted three MP3 files it felt like bought a brand new system.
Let me ask you. Do you use a hotspot locator? I tried one using JiWire Hotspot Locator but it is not very reliable.
Again, what do you use, if you do have a hotspot locator. The plan is to get our entire city:Toronto WiFi-enabled by 2007 which is great. Until then, I want to locate hotspots without having to hang around Starbucks.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Rashoman
I do not use a hot spot finder. I know what one is but I don't use it. I don't typically need one. I rarely check email on the go and when I travel I usually just use the access at the hotel.
How much does a Wi Fi locator cost??? I have had times when using one would be nice.
Good luck....

Hi all new to the forums.
Looking to get a CF card for my x51v. It says that it is only type II compatible are type II's microdrives? I understand the size difference but it seems as though many of you are running type I's with a gap in the memory slot....what is difference between the two. As well I have digicam that uses both type I & II CF so no issues there but what I want to know is what product would be most compatible and easy to swap back and forth. And if you are reading this and have gps recievers, what software are you using. Bought one off ebay and looking to find some maps to load up.
Cheers,
Rad Eddie

Both CF card types work with the Axim. The only difference between I and II is the thickness. Most solid state drives are type I, but some solid state type II drives exist. All microdrives are type II.
Consensus says TomTom is the best GPS software right now.

I've heard that the folks at Tihsllub Labs in Irvine, CA have developed a 96 Gigabyte card that fits inside of the larger 2200 mAh case, but is used with the smaller 1100 mAh battery. A flat cable connects it to the SD-memory port on the back of the Axim. I think you can find details at www.tihsllub.com/ahctog.

no limit
From everything I looked at and emails to dell support there was no suggestion of a limit for CF or SD size, but it was suggested that I go for better known brands, San Disk in particular, but there's a wait for the larger sized cards, Istill ended up with 2G CF and 4G SD and works fine on some rather large reference books.
