I would exchange it if you can. I made the mistake of buying a sandisk 4GB type I. I thought about rolling up a black piece of paper like a tube and putting it in between to occupy the space, instead I'm going to sell it. I found a Seagate 8GB typeII on Amazon for $150 witch is the same price I paid for the 4GB.

"Think Black Electrical Tape"
The Rinoskin metal shell I bought with my Axim (and the default Nylon sleave) leave the top of the Axim exposed to not only dust but RAIN!!
I solved this with a section of ELECTRICAL TAPE cut to cover only the CF slot on the top of my Axim.
It rains alot in Oregon, the black tape is easy to peal off and blends in well with the black Axim case.
(just my $0.02)

Thumbs up to Dell
Well for all who have had problems with Dell....I did not. I looked over my orginal invoice which stated Dell shipped the CFII card. Clearly this was not the card I recieved. I looked onto Dell's website for a customer service number. Not being able to find one, I hestitantly turned to their email based support system. Not expecting a satisfactory answer, I sent off a recap of my situation and how I thought I was shipped the wrong card. The SAME day I recieved an email back from Dell CS. They stated I had in fact been sent the wrong card and a new one was already on the way and the return information for the old one would be included and I should send back the old one "At MY convience." In addtion to quickly shipping me a replacement they also offered me a $35.00 coupon good toward my next purchase.
So no problems on the return.

I'm glad to see you will be getting what you should have gotten to begin with. Dell is pretty good about correcting there mistakes (witch they make a lot of).
I finally got my 8GB compact flash card the other day. I am now using a Sagate 8GB compactflash typeII along with a Sandisk 2GB SD card. At first I was having some problems with the compactflash card disapering. I found this post http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=112638 and followed the directions. Hopefully that will work.

Dell to step up yet again????
Donkey,
That fix worked GREAT for me. We'll see how good Dell is now. I ordered the optional Cabled GPS package for the Axim as well. I got the unit last Monday. I installed all the software NO PROBLEMS. Tested it out, works very well for the most part (no better or worse than any GPS.) Few bugs with routes here and there but no big deal. Well just today I get an alert from the software that there is an update available. Upon investigation I find it and it is an upgrade to software that came out in freaking JUNE 2005 and of course costs $99.00.
So I literally just sent a request to the CS rep who helped me with the CF card very politly asking why I got such an old version of software with a brand new unit???? It is a little upsetting since the GPS option made this purchase happen and upon researching it, I found this software package and assumed (bad thing always) that since it came out in June '05 it would be the version I would have.
So I'll keep all up to date on how THIS one comes out. Honestly though, I've purchased MANY items from Dell and have NEVER had one complaint. So even if this minor issue isn't resolved the way I'd like (Free Upgrade Coupon.) I won't stop purchasing anything from Dell.
Take Care.....

Well thumbs down to Dell, sort of, I got my new CF II card shipped to me and recieved it today. The only problem, it's another CF I card. Long story short. They are simply going to refund my money and arrange for the return of the bunk two cards.
Oh well...this will give me the excuse to buy a bigger Type II in the near future anyway.

Thats funny, well not really. I'm going through the same thing right now. I too purchased the GPS unit with mine last month. I got the notice of an update Sunday. After checking the website it told me to go to, I noticed that the update was released last year in June and would cost me $99. I don't think thats right that I should have to pay for an update that should have been included when I bought the software. I finally had a chance to call Dell today to see what they can do. I talked to three people, first customer support, then tech support, then back to customer support. After 40 min. I was told to pay the $99 and then respond with a request to an email that they would send me (witch I still havent received 7 hours later) to get a refund for the $99 back. They told me that if I found this out within the first 21 days that I could have just returned the software and been sent back the updated disks.
So why are they still selling the outdated software?
I'm not to sure I want to pay the $99 and take my chances of getting the refund.

Donkey,
I read some bad reviews of the Seagate drive. Have you had any issues with it so far??? Maybe they are just camera related???

No problems other than it disapering at first but I belive that I solved that with the fix http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=112638 I have
MP3s, videos, pictures, and programs stored on it, all running fine. Only thing I don't like about it is that it is orange. I'm thinking about using a black marker and coloring the top of it since thats the only part you see.
