Thinkpad integrated bluetooth + activesync woes

Ok so I'm running XP pro sp2 on a thinkpad t42 with integrated bluetooth. I just bought a x51v 2 weeks ago and it has ROM A06 and windows mobile 5.

Software from IBM (Lenovo, same thing) for bluetooth doesn't come preinstalled, though they do provide it on their website.

First I had some software installed and was able to pair my device, and was able to see some services available both to my laptop and my x51v. However I was not able to sync using bluetooth, only via USB. So i figured my software wasn't installed right, and uninstalled and reinstalled software from Lenovo. I can still pair my device, but now there are no "services" available now and still cannot sync via bluetooth. I tried going to activesync on my axim and connecting via bluetooth after creating partnership, but it says no devices have activesync as a service or something like that.

I keep reading all these issues with "stack" (no idea what that means), COM ports (which i think is part of my problem). Has anyone figured how to make this work? I've read the tutorial about it, but it doesn't really help.

Mahstah - I looked at your tutorial again and attempted to follow the instructions. After enabling com3 in activesync, i paired the device with my laptop. However when i search for services, none are there. This is what's tripping me up.

Any ideas? Thanks man.

Sweeet just got it to work.

Basically the problem was that I had to add a COM port through my latop as an "incoming" port.

I follwed the instructions found here:

You'll notice the part where, after updating your bluetooth drivers, you create an incoming port just by pressing "ok" even though no device is shown. Then it showed up for me in activesync.

Now i just gotta get my WLAN to work with Odyssey client WPA/TKIP (my school requires odyssey...ahhhhh)

I have an Axim X51v with WM5, and I just tried synching with my bluetooth (for the first time since upgrading to WM5). When I had WM2003 it seemed a lot easier to do; just plug in blutooth adapter and install software (which would set up the ports for me), change port in ActiveSync to the port that was set up, and it was ready to go, my Axim detected and connected to thee bluetooth port.

With WM5, it wasnt as simple. I changed the ActiveSync port to com 4 (which was the default that was set up by my adapter) and my Axim didnt want to acknowledge that port as an ActiveSync port anymore (but as a serial port).

I tried following both Mastah's and Heinz1218's guides but no luck. Finally after brute force troubleshooting, I eventually deleted all bluetooth ports (after reinstalling my bluetooth adapter from scratch) on my computer, then created just one com port (com 6). I set ActiveSynch to use this port, and... FINALLY my Axim saw the port and I was able to synch.

Hope this helps anyone else who is still having problems after attempting the above.
