outlook profile syncing problem

I'm trying to sync my pda with outlook, but i get the following message on pda and active sync:

Cannot synchronize with the Outlook profile you are using, because a different profile was previously set up or the profile is password-protected. Please open Outlook using the appropriate profile.

I have never used outlook before, and i'm logged into my computer as an Administrator. I don't even know how to open outlook with the same profile set up on my pda (or figure out what profile is my pda under). Is there any way to share a calendar and task list from outlook with my pda?

If you have never used Outlook before, you need to set up a profile by launching it and going through the wizard. The process varies by Outlook version. If you have an online email account that supports POP, you will want to look up its pop3 and smtp server settings in the help on the site. If not, just skip by the account setup options by telling it that you don't want to create an account yet.

The next time you sync, your X51 will ask you if you wan to overwrite one or the other or combine them. Overwrite the host computer or combine. It should work just fine after that.

i have created an email account in outlook, and a calendar, but my pda, or active sync doesn't ask me at any point to synchronize with various accounts. it only says that outlook is in the wrong profile. I can't switch profile in either outlook or activesync. Any ideas?

If you've created a new Outlook profile, delete the Activesync profile and recreate it. You might want to give your Axim a new device name before creating a new profile just to differentiate it from the old. I read of this working before, although the person didn't mention applying a new device name.
