X51V-Tom Tom 5 - Holux GM-270 Ultra

I just received my Holux GM 270 Ultra but I did not succeed to set it up into my X51 V with Tom Tom 5.
I succed to do the test for the GN-270 ultra in my X51V but not to make it work with Tom Tom 5. I think it is a problem of COM ports.
Do someone know which the right steps are to make it work?

I have the 270 with the x51v as well. I use iGuidance so I can't help you with the TT software. Initially I had issues with my x51v connecting to the 270. The 270 was discovered on COM4 but the X51v didn't like it there. I ended up using the GPS configuration tool that's part of WM5. I changed the Program port to COM4 and the Hardware port to COM6. Everything works fine and dandy for me now.

For TT though I swear I've heard that there are issues with CF GPS's. I don't think it supports the 270u. Sorry.

If its a CF card, you need to make sure that you have a WM5 driver installed. If a driver does not exist, then it won't work

I just received my 270, and I'm having the same problem. The "GPS Viewer" test program scan function finds it on COM4, but it gives me a "Can not open COMPORT" when I press "Open GPS".

I tried your solution with the "GPS" applet in the settings. I made the program port COM4 and the hardware port COM6 and set it to control access. But that didn't work for me. Am I doing something wrong, or is my unit defective? Any ideas?

I too have a Holux 270 Ultra and am having the same problems as SESummers et al. Would be grateful for an update if there is one.

I am using the latest ROM (12) and I have downloaded and installed the GPS viewer files from the Holux website.

Everytime I try to use the GPS it refuses to open the comport and I have to scan the ports to find the GPS - it finds it on port 4; so the option of using port 6 does not seem to work for me. Are you supposed to have to rescan for the GPS evertime you want to use it?
