Cant figure out the wireless connections

Hello i just got my Dell X51V and have had no luck with wireless internet on it
i have no idea how to go around doing it, read the manuan not much help there either, would really appreciate if any one can help me out, i use the linksys rounter with speed boost

My apologies if we start with the very basics.

1) have you switched on the WiFi facilities on the X51V.

2) If WiFi is switched on, on the bottom right of the screen, you should have a signal strength indicator. This should show some green bars indicating strength, even if you have no connection, this should register the signal as being received.

If you Do not have green bars, trhen tap on the icon to open the Wlan Utility.

Top - POWER, should be ON.

3) Select SITE from the bottommenu and if necessary select rescan. If all is working , the axim should show your network as being registered.

If this is all OK, then the most likely problem is that the security settings on your X51 need to be changed to match those of your servier . ie SSid, WEP encription etc.

I'm also having problems with connecting to "hot spots"...I can't find anything about WLAN, and haven't seen any icons on the screen or green bars. And yes, the instruction manual is completely helpless in this area...HELP!

Someone mentioned something about downloading some extra software, is this true?

What version of x51 do you have as the base x51 does not have wifi capabilities as standard

Yeah, that's the problem...I got this as a pilot study for work, and thought I had the mid configuration. I shouldv'e figured it was the lowest! I'll have to get the card...thanx!

Hey Thanks to all , i got it going, i was selecting a wrong connection driver, i got help from dell tech help
