The lack of response when you tried to reset, a soft reset you seem to indicate, as you didn't mention the power button, suggests that the lock button on the top left of the axim may be engaged, even partially. Make sure it is fully off, no red showing, and try the reset again. Otherwise, remove the battery for an extended period of time. and replace and see if that works
