Best WM6 browser?
Peeps,
My Internet Explorer has been refusing to connect recently ("The address is not valid" - oh yes it damn' well is!), so I tried Opera 9.7 beta (unusable IMO) and Skyfire (apparently installed but refused to start - some nonsense message about missing components even though I downloaded the cab from get.skyfire.com official website - twice). Big disappointment, as it looked like the absolute business.
So has anyone any advice on what other browsers are worth the trouble of trying? Ones that have sensible interfaces, don't present text so small that it can't be read or zoom so much that it takes six drags to find a recognisable piece of text...?
I have an X51v running Lenny's WM6.1.
Thanks for any thoughts or feedback.

I'll be interested in responses to your question. Skyfire gives me that message, too. I'm using Lenny's A07.
Iris is another option, but it's unwieldy, more so than Opera (although I must say Opera 9.7 does better for me than 9.5).

I worked this one out - found this on Mobilitysite (thanks to original poster) :
http://www.winmobiletech.com/092007M...ls_for_PPC.zip
Copy these 2 files to \windows on your Axim and it fools Skyfire into thinking it's running on a mobile phone, which is what it's apparently designed for.
Update - in case the OS makes inserting into \windows difficult, I noticed this on HTG Geeks - "unzipped the two dlls to the \Program Files\Skyfire directory".

Thanks for the tip. I have to say I was disappointed after all the good things I heard about Skyfire. The text is really fuzzy. I'd think it's my Axim but nothing else shows up that way. For now I'll keep playing with Opera and use IE when I'm in a hurry.

Opera 9.7 beta1 all the way! Beats Skyfire hands down. Even with the Turbo preview feature turned off!
Free for all: Opera 9.7 beta

I've got a question, for anyone that'll listen: I've recently started using my x51v again, and (after two years) had to buy a new battery, but the new (ext batt) cover gives me the battery latch issue... solved that with some tape and paper, now my issue is; Axim won't connect to my Wifi router! It says connecting, but never connects! it's in range, has the appropriate encryption code, and password... WTF? anyone help with this?
My second question is... where the hell did everyone get a copy of WM6.1 for the x51v!? and, okay, third question; are there anymore ROMS available? I have A12, and WM5.
Thanks again;

Seems I won't be using Opera too often after all. I use it for Facebook (among other sites). When I go to the mobile Facebook page, everything's fine. But now when I go to the full site, I get an "out of memory" message before the page loads. It didn't use to do that. I got a program to look at running processes, but I don't see anything big that's hogging the memory. Any suggestions (except for upgrading RAM; I don't know that I want to spend that much on this just now)?

FYI, Skyfire is nw out of Beta and has had a couple of point upgrades as well, may be worth another look for people.

To tell the truth Opera Mini 5 Beta 2, has just been released, native windows mobile now. it's really good. Works like skyfire, but still doesn't have the flash support! Fast though. It is here and worth a try!
