SMART MOdular Technologies Card and V50

I have purchased two SMART Bluetooth Cards for my V50. Neither will work. I would like to use this card to connect to an access point for Internet access. I get an error about No bluetooth radio. The software will not fully install and the card does not seem to work. I get random prompts to setup an unknown card and it will not detect bluetooth devices in the room. ANyone have any suggestions for me? Is there a recommended card I can purchase that will work?

Jmanns-

You will want to check the compatability requirements for those cards and make sure they support your OS firstly. If you're using WM5 on the X50v, you might want to consider Dell's downgrade option as WM5 on that device was known to be buggy. Also look online for driver file updates for the BT cards.

I checked Dell's site and there is a ROM update that has not been updated on my Axim. My ROM version is A01. The latest is A05. Would that be the problem?

It could be. Just make sure you aren't going to WM5.

Seems like when I purchased it, the Axim already has WM5 on it. Do I need to downgrade? I believe you said avoid WM5 if I have the x50v. I have the x50.

Funny you mention that card, I had the exact same one for use on my Dell Axim x5, after several unsuccessful attempts, I spent hours looking on the web trying to find any info on this obscure card, couldn't find anything. I never got it to work either...

I had the exact same error messages it wouldn't recognize the card even when I used the appropriate driver, after many, many, many attempts I got the software to install once. I was ecstatic, however afterwards my wifi card didn't seem to work, and I still couldn't get it to detect any bluetooth devices in the room, so I uninstalled it, and I could never get it to install again. After a lot of frustration, I decided it was a problem with the card and got my money back, which is what I suggest you do, at least from my experience..

Thank you KimChee for using the word I was searching for. OBSECURE! I was unable to find drivers online for it. The software installation fails everytime. I went to the manufacturer's web site to find drivers and support. They don't have this item anywhere on their web site. The support url on the back of the packaging gives a 404 error.

My bluetooth device doesn't detect devices in the room either. I will take one last chance after I update the ROM from A01 to A05. The Dell web site has a ROM update that is supposed to do the following:

1.Enhance LEAP-WAP wireless encryption.
2.Increase the data transfer rate of SDIO to 19.5MHz on PXA27X C5.
3.Add a new network certification -- GoDaddy SSL certificate root into the ROM image.
4.Phase in new updated Bluetooth stack BTW-CE 1.5.0.2601.
5.Added wireless compatibility for Cisco Wireless Multimedia (WMM)
6.Bug fix for Home applet screen on the X50.
7.Bug fix for WMV Marathon display codec.

I'm not sure if the ROM update listed under # 4 will help the situation at all. I'm not very techno saavy but I do know how to Google. Is there a technical person here that can translate this into something I can better understand?
