ActiveSync connection problem: X50V

Hello all,

I am new to the forum and pretty new to having an Axim, got it second-hand a month or so ago and haven't done much with it yet. I only just now installed ActiveSync; until now the only data I needed to transfer to my Axim was music, which I did using the CF card directly with a reader.

Now I need more control over every aspect of my Axim so I installed ActiveSync as per the instructions and connected my Axim using the cradle, but ActiveSync was unable to find the device. My computer recognized that it was there; the new hardware wizard came up. I tried using different USB ports and, as I have ZoneAlarm, I added ActiveSync to my trusted programs and gave it all possible permissions. ActiveSync is still unable to connect to my Axim.

Is not having Outlook a problem? I do not have it and I have no desire to install it.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Turn all firewalls off, turn antvirus off, connect the axim again and see if that helps. If you want to sync your contacts and calender you will need outlook!
