Need Help: can't reboot

I have a Dell Axim 50 v with mobile 05. My system freezes 3/4 of the way through rebooting. This happens for both soft resets as well as the hard reset, so i can not turn it on or auto-sync. I have had my axim for about a year and use it daily. I often read the postings on aximsusers.com and really need some help fast.

Hi jps-

You need to try to get the unit going by flashing from the SD card back to WM2003SE. Use the Domme method published at Aximsite. He has a great walkthrough. If that doesn't work, the Axim may well be bricked.

Flashing the sd card as described in the link is the solution for the 80% start-up problem.

I tried placing a screen protector on my new 51V this morning, and perhaps (?) tried to vigorously to remove the bubbles. Result: my 51V is stuck. I've tried several soft resets, then moved on to a hard reset. The screen says "To restore factory settings, press....", and I've pushed it but nothing happens.

I searched the topics looking for Hard Reset, and found one that says to use the Domme Method, but have questions. Can anyone help ?

The instructions say:

1. Copy the Windows Mobile 5 OS Image and the corresponding CRC File to a FAT32 formatted SD-Card (Valid Filename for example WM50_K_A01_X50v_WM5_ENG.nb0)
2. Copy the Windows Mobile 5 Bootloader and the corresponding CRC File to a FAT32 formatted SD-Card (Valid Filename for example DiMa_B_A01_X50v_WM5_ENG.nb0)

Where do I find the Windows Mobile 5 OS image and the corresponding CRC file ? Same with the bootloader files.

Would this question better be posed to Domme ?

The ROM images are available in links on Domme's thread at Aximsite. You can also get them yourself by extracting them from the ROM update program from Dell using a program such as WinRAR.

I removed the battery - if nothing else to clear the screen. After about 10 minutes I replaced the battery, and the 51V came back up. It asked me to key in A1B2C3 on the login screen, and after that prompted me for a PW.

The date and time was reset, and I'm not sure what else. Looks like my Spb Pocket Plus and Diary are functional.

Do you suppose I pressed on the screen protector too hard ? I'm gun-shy about going back through that process (I removed the screen protector during the "ordeal").
