USB syn/charging cable

I am looking for a USB charger cable for use with my x50v. I purchased one on ebay that doesn't work for me. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=300057316148

The charger didn't show a charging indicator on the Power screen(but it did light up the power button), so I plugged it into my ipod's charging block (120V to 5V usb @ 1a) and watched with amazement as my battery dropped from 80% to 0% in less than 2 seconds. That was kind of freaky to watch.

The pda wouldn’t turn on after that unless it was on the cradle. It scared me because the battery was going from 30% downward while it was on the cradle and plugged into AC. It ended up that after a good charge, all was fine, but now I’m weary of cheap cables.

Any advice for a decent charger/sync cable?

Belkin works perfectly for me. I recommend the 3 way travel kit (charges via car, wall socket, and USB -- syncs via USB.)

Hi.

My experience of USB charging cables is that when the battery power is below approx 70%, some of them do not generate enough power to operate the screen and charge at the same time, some cause sever flicker to the PDA screen.

From your post I see you have the screen on whilst trying to charge. I do suggest you try it again with the screen off until the charge light turns green.

Until yesterday, I didn't realize that the cradle or the dell usb cable could charge the pda. I realized that if you just leave it off it will do a slow charge. I'll stick with my Dell brand usb cable for now, at least it will work until I decide to try another one, like the Belkin.

BTW - my cheap cable does charge the pda, but only when it is off. When I turn it on, the charge light stays on but the battery drains quicker than if it wasn't "charging. My cable wasn't able to charge, even when I was above 90%.

I had the EXACT same problem with my Axim x50v when I bought a USB data cable + car charger product on eBay that only had 450mA output current. Well, I did some research and found a GREAT product that offers 2.0A output on 5V DC input (and with overcharge protection & LED indicator) on eBay. Best part is it's only U$5.90 including shipping!!

I just received this product recently and tested it out in worst case condition: While driving with my x50v turned on and my GPS receiver CF card working, I maximized the display brightness setting then depleted the battery down to 10% charge. Once I hooked up this new car charger (no USB), it charged my x50v w/o a hitch back to 100% in 30-min and no flickering!

One thing to note is that you need to make sure you use MSN chat service with this eBay Seller (Anthony @ e2_shop) to confirm that the right 2.0A output charger is being shipped for your order. Seller is located in H.K. but they shipped the charger on Friday and it was delivered to me (in MA) the next Monday.
