Cool I get a "main battery low message" when it is not really low.

I get a "main battery low" messege even though I have a charged battery. Also, one moment, it says I have no battery in my power settings, and when I exit out and go back into it I will have 87%.

Also, my Axim x50v (with Windows Mobile 5.0) will often not turn on. I have to take the battery out and put it back in, but this may be like a hard reset.

This happens with both batteries I have. Could they be going bad? One of the batteries, I hardly use, so I think it might be something else.

If the Axim behaves the same with both batteries, chances are it's the Axim to blame. Considering the problems reported with WM5 on the X50 (which Dell does NOT support) you might want to try to downgrade to WM2003SE which is available as a ROM "upgrade" from Dell's site.

I'm sure it's not what you wanted to hear but I'm not going to lie to you- the X50 is very unstable when running WM5.

That's a bummer. Will I lose many of the features of WM5 when I do that? Like the persistent memory or the mobile powerpoint?

Yes, you will lose the WM5 features. You could try hard resetting to revert back to factory settings and see if the problems go away. That way you could keep WM5 on the X50.

Well, the downgrade did not work, so I contacted Dell online support, and they are sending me a replacement x51v. It will prob. be refurbished, but I hear refurbished Dell PDA's are like new one's. Can't say that for pc's.

You're getting an X51v to replace the X50? That's great news, like getting a refurbished Core Duo in exchange for a P4 PC! Well worth it, the refurbs are like new in my experience.
