x50 frozen!

Hi everyone,

My x50 keeps freezing at 3/4 mark when loading after a reset, and will not go past that point. The last error message I got when the x50 was still operational was 'memory full.'

The battery is charged, the lock button off, and battery left out for a day (to force a restart). But still when I reset, it freezes when loading at 3/4 of the way.

Any suggestions?

I'll bite.

Check this tutorial at aximsite for instructions on updating your ROM from an image stored on an SD card. This may fix whatever corruption exists in your current ROM.

If that doesn't work, I pray that your Axim is still under warranty.

That tutorial seems far too risky for a technically challenged person like myself.


The bloody warranty ran out two weeks ago.

Are there any other alternatives?

You should go for it. Perhaps call over your cousin or uncle who is more IT oriented to read the instructions and help you. What's the worst thing that could happen, it already doesn't work...

Called Dell to beg and plead. Thankfully the outsourced dell technicians were kind enough to replace the x50 despite expired warranty.

Called Friday; Monday morning the courier brought the new unit, and took away the old.

Lesson learned: Avoid third party plugins, if no warranty available.
