Message download?

I am not sure why it is happening but when I insert my x50v into the cradle, my laptop starts dialing my ISP. I have tried to determine what turns this function on. I wll also have email messages in my Messages folder that I not asked to connect and download for. Is there a switch somewhere that I am over looking.
I would prefer that these steps would take place at my direction.

To keep messages from syncing to your Axim, go to Tools-->Options in Activesync on your desktop computer. Deselect Email.

The Axim wants to connect to the internet when it syncs so that it can update your Outlook info and any internal programs (for example Journal Bar or other updating software) that require a connection.

I have gone so far as to deselect all of the option in Activesync. Email was not an option. I still have the Isp being dialed when I insert the x50v into the cradle. I also use a program called Mightysync and now am wondering if that may be part of the problem. I'll disable that and see what happens.
