Ha, ha, ha... £57? Oh Dell do make me laugh... :-)

Like Pedah, I've bought a couple of 2200mAh from eBay and they're still fine after a couple of years - they easily last for 5-6 hours of video, which is pretty impressive, I think.

I suggest changing your seller. Not all batteries are duds.

    Any recommendations for ebay sellers?

I've been using a non-Dell battery for about a month now. It's working great. It says it's a 4000 mAh capacity, which I can't verify because I don't know how, but it certainly runs my x51v for much longer than the standard Dell battery did, which is rated at 1100 mAh. This is the highest capacity battery I've seen advertised. I bought it from an eBay seller named mming2007. The current item number (priced in US $) is eBay #260544314496. It's also priced in GBP as item #250566501631. You can find cheaper but they are less capacity. Made in China, of course. It comes with a replacement battery compartment door, since it is about twice as thick as the standard battery. But even with the extra thickness, the x51v nestles nicely in my palm. The cases I had don't fit now, but the x51v fits perfectly fine in the Dell cradle. I use a small camera case (Case Logic) which has a belt loop and store my extra SD cards in its zipper pocket. Works great. I put the old battery into the cradle's charging compartment and park the PDA in the cradle's stand. I'm very happy with the purchase. I've had mixed experiences with Chinese-made Li-ion batteries for my camcorder -- 2 worked great but 1 of identical brand and bought at same time only held about 1/3 of the expected capacity, based on how long it would run the camcorder versus the other 2. I returned the weak one to that seller (not mming2007) and the replacement worked fine. It seems that some battery manufacturers just turn out whatever comes off the end of the assembly line, regardless of quality. So, your results may vary from mine, depending upon the luck of quality control from the battery maker. But mming2007 says the battery is guaranteed for 1 year.

Compared with the price of some batteries I've seen people recommending here, I'd say it's worth a try with this 4000 mAh battery from this seller. My only (minor) problem has been that I have to be careful that the battery door latch is fully engaged or the door opens and the PDA won't turn on. I put a tiny strip of black tape over the latch handle and accidental opening hasn't happened again.
