Axim x5 and 2 gb sd

I recently tried to use a 2 gigabyte sd card in my Axim x5, but it only registered as having 998 megabytes available. Is the x5 only able to handle 1 gigabyte or are 2 gb available even if it does not show in memory?

Lots of problems like this with large cards in the X5, the storage is still there but it will not register

i'm using the oldest 4 gb sd card i could find on market and it turned out to be more expensive than the sdhc 4gb cards..the storage space is recognised bi the axim but can't be usedanything more than 1 gb can't be read by the pda .
